The Ladder-Max Stand-off Stabilizer: More Than A Ladder Accessory

The Ladder-Max Stand-off Stabilizer : More Than A Ladder Accessory

Not too long ago I was at a client’s home making some siding repairs when I noticed that her gutters were overflowing with pine needles. When I pointed this out, she asked me if I could clean them. "No problem," I said. I had an extension ladder on my truck and a traditional side-wall ladder stand-off (on the left). I thought I'd get the job done in no time. But, as it turned out, the eves on this two-story house were so wide, I couldn't access the gutters by standing the ladder against the siding, not even with extra space afforded by my traditional ladder stand-off. My only other option was to place the extension ladder directly against the home's two-year old gutters. Being a fairly trim fellow, I thought I could manage the cleaning with my full weight on the ladder as it pressed against the gutter without doing any damage. I succeeded in completing the job without damaging the gutters, but only after struggling for several minutes to rig my ladder with a useless stand off…not to mention some really anxious moments questioning my own safety and as a result, making very slow progress clearing the pine straw from the gutters. Though I had cleaned gutters before, this experience convinced me that there had to be a faster, safer, and more professional way to do this kind of work.
I needed something that would stand the ladder off of the roof so that it would totally clear the gutter. I called Lowe's Home Improvement and then Home Depot. The customer service associates I spoke with didn't even know what a ladder stand-off was. Silly me, I thought a brick and mortar store would carry ladder accessories. I then called Northern Tool, Harbor Freight, and Agri-Supply. Their associates at least knew what a ladder stand-off was, but still they couldn't even tell me where to look or who to call. Exasperated and with my face buried in my hands, I finally decided to search the web to see what I could find. To make a long story short I found Ladder-Max (on the left). Thank God. NEVER again should a homeowner, a tradesmen, or Do-It-Yourselfer, attempt to clean gutters, work around eves, or access a roof utilizing an extension ladder without first buying a Ladder-Max. I recently used Ladder-Max in three very three different situations. I've learned firsthand that it's built smart, durable, and makes you safer whenever you're working off of an extension ladder. I recently used Ladder-Max to help set a ridgepole for a room addition (on the right). What a tool! I've used Ladder-Max to access roofs on several homes with roof pitches varying from 8/12 to 12/12 (see below). I know Ladder-Max made my work safe, efficient, and professional. It's more than a ladder accessory. It makes your ladder what it needs to be. One last thing, Ladder-Max is actually made in the U.S.A. This was the icing on the cake for me. Visit www.buyladder-max.com. Better yet, talk to John over at Ladder-Max. He'll help you any way he can. For you DIY or die kind of guys and gals, if you absolutely need to get up on your roof—please, do it safely. Buy a Ladder-Max for your extension ladder. If you ever see your neighbor climbing up on his roof without one, be a good neighbor and let him borrow yours.

Cord Pro : No More Tango With Tangled Cords
Whether you're a fearless Do-It-Yourselfer, seasoned professional, or an organizationally challenged homeowner, tangles in extension cords are productivity killers. Time lost doing the tango with your cords is time wasted not getting your project done. Stop the insanity! I did! And I want to show you how you too can stop dancing the tangled cord tango.
If you're anything like me, spending seven or eight dollars on a cheap plastic cord reel is not a big deal. I bought one not too long ago at Home Depot (see right). It lets you spool an extension cord by hand reeling from one end of the cord to the other. Simple enough. This cord reel does the trick if you're only using your cords a couple times of year. However, if you use your cords more frequently than this you are likely to suffer from BES, the Buried End Syndrome (ok, it's not a real syndrome but I think it should be). With this cheap cord reel you will always have to unreel the full length of the cord in order to dig out the end first spooled onto the reel. If you've got all the time in world and have lots of patience—this is the cord reel is for you.
However, if you want ready access to both ends of your cord, if you want to eliminate tangles and get your project done like pro, you need CordPro. I searched for this product as part of my effort to become more productive and more professional. I found a lot of different products on the web, but this one in particular stood out. Admittedly, I was a little skeptical when I first found it. It looked really neat but I wanted more than cord reel eye candy. Now I must admit, I use it almost every day. CordPro is the first cord reel I've used where I had to read the directions in order to learn how to properly load the cord onto the reel. What can I say? A smart guy designed it, so some thinking is required the first time you load the cord. I began to appreciate the magic of this reel as I realized how this tool made me become a disciplined cord wrapper. Herein lies the secret of CordPro. I was surprised that my 100 ft 14-3 extension cord actually fit into this cord reel. As I began to load the cord onto the reel I really didn't think I get the whole 100 feet to go on. It did and there was even room to spare. Compact, light, durable, and very reasonably priced, you can save yourself time and money because you don't have to drive to Lowe's or Home Depot to get this product.
In fact, you can only get this cord reel from directly from CordPro. You will be more productive, spare yourself from the hassle of tangled cords and buried ends, and look professional too. If you are interested in buying tools and home improvement products actually made in the U.S.A. CordPro is the cord reel for you. A husband and wife team hold the patent on this product. They are great Americans and great inventors. Go to www.cordpro.com and get yourself a CordPro. They have different models for different kinds of cords. Save yourself time. Spare yourself lots hassle. CordPro measures up and reels out with the best of them.

The Landscape Master Splash Block : Downspout Washout A Thing Of The Past
I'm definitely thankful for the rain that's come our way this spring. However with a heavy downpour, there often arises a common landscape problem: washout. This happens most often at the bottom of down spouts, especially during heavy rains. In this common problem, the gutters collect the runoff and send it down the spout, the result of which is something like a powerful beam of water that erodes the ground beneath your spouts. Soil and mulch don't stand a chance, even stones can get moved around (Right: eroded mulch).
What do you do? The ideal would be to connect your downspouts to a drainage system. However we don't live in an ideal world. As many of you know, most of the homes in our area were built without foundation drains, mine included. Short of committing time, money, and energy to a whole-house drainage system, what's your best option? Iowa! Yes, that's right. There is an inventor in Iowa who spent years of life developing a product that would solve this very problem. It's called the Landscape Master Splash Block (Left).
When I found his product on the Internet, I simply had to pick up the phone and call. What a great decision that turned out to be. This guy is the real deal. Denny is his name. The story of how he and his wife developed and perfected the Landscape Master Splash Block is amazing. The Landscape Master Splash Block solves this big home maintenance problem better than anything else of its kind. Having fitted my house with the Landscape Master Splash Block and seen results with my own eyes, I know that Denny's splash block is brilliant. It's the culmination of years of intensive research and development. Every feature of Denny's Landscape Master Splash Block is tried, tested, and proven. For the money it can save homeowners, I can't believe it's so well-priced. I also love that this home improvement product is made in the U.S.A. You can buy the best in the U.S. You save your money and your landscaping with the Landscape Master Splash Block. It's made in the U.S.A. by Americans who truly exemplify our country's entrepreneurial and inventive spirit. Value, i ngenuity, made in the U.S.A, what more could you want? Solve your landscape problem without ever having to get into your car. Go visit Denny and buy the Landscape Master Splash Block over at www.gutterworks.com.
